1,661 Miles Project in partnership with Today’s Dream Tomorrow’s Future and Art that Speaks Life Galleries has established a memorial along this journey to recognize and remember homicide victims. Each victim will have a marker ceremony to include personalized art collections and gifts to commemorate their lives with dignity and honor. The memorial is permanent and will remain with Painting for Peace Legacy of Dorothy Hawkins Gray and David Hawkins Collection nationwide. It was the desire of the late Dorothy Hawkins Gray to ensure that homicide victims not be forgotten, and our families though not connected always by blood were indefinitely connected through bloodshed. They will be a part of our community family forever. Families have been selected for the mile designated in their loved one’s honor and have received a formal invitation which will be shared via social media.
